Microplastics are derived from plastic debris that is commonly used in society's daily life. However, most people are unaware of microplastics and the dangers that they pose to the ocean and it's inhabitants, and extending up the food web to humans.



Sphere / Pellets- derived from microbead products such as cosmetics and beauty products.
Jagged Fragments - comes from the break down of larger plastic debris- due to sunlight radiation and wave energy.
Film - comes from the breakdown of plastic bags and food wrappers
Fibers- derived from textiles (clothing), fishing gear, cigarette filters
Rubber- rubber particles can be toxic as a result of the fossil fuel association that they encounter - i.e.) tire particles
